Hey there! I'm Jeremy, currently a student in my final year at Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences, in Jyväskylä, Finland. Born in the United States of America, I moved to Finland in 2016 in pursuit of a relationship and I've been enjoying my life here ever since. I started studying at JAMK in 2022, joined Peliosuuskunta Expa in 2023, and started working with Lumo Creations in 2024. While that gives a brief overview, it doesn't really paint a whole picture. So...
Who am I?

On a professional level I'm just beginning my journey as a game developer. While I studied programming in University, I eventually side-stepped from that path and dual specialized in both Visual Effects and Tech Art. I have a deep interest in really digging into how things work, figuring out what makes something tick, and then discovering how I can use that knowledge and apply it towards creating something special.
As a Technical Artist I have a special interest in optimization, whether it's spending time making the engine itself run smoothly, or implementing assets in a project to provide minimal performance impact, I'm in my happy place when I'm improving performance.
Relevant Skills: Profiler, Frame Debugger, Occlusion Culling, LoD Settings, Lighting, Materials, Shader Creation and Management,
Render Features/Pipeline Assets, Blender fbx file importing.
As a Visual Effects Artist, I love being able to add complexity, depth and life to a scene through particle systems, shaders and simulations of natural phenomenon. In Unity I primarily use Particle System (Shuriken) or VFX Graph, but I'm also a fair hand with Shader Graph and have started writing my own HLSL Shaders as well.
Relevant Skills: Unity Particle System (Shuriken), Unity Visual Effects Graph, Texture Creation, Krita, Photoshop, Illustrator
In my personal life, I'm a father of two boys navigating the rewarding yet sometimes frustrating world of parenthood, while also retraining myself through education. Outside of spending time with my family, my hobbies are mostly simple, relaxing, and inexpensive. Given my education and career path, I feel like it's a bit of a cop out to say I like videogames, even though I do! So I'll point to the above infographic which gives a good overview of my main hobbies.
First, I like fishing, and while I prefer shore casting for Striped Bass, I'm developing an appreciation for fishing in the lakes and rivers here in Finland. I'm always looking for someone to tag along, so if that's something you're interested in too, drop me a line!
To go along with fishing, I like being out in nature away from the noise and crowds of cities and towns. I enjoy hiking, but given the lack of mountains I'm content to wander the peaceful paths between the trees and soak in the sights and sounds of the local flora and fauna.
Lastly, while I don't have as much time for it as I used to, I love reading. Fantasy and Sci-fi are possibly a given, but I also like Historical Fiction - Bernard Cornwell is a personal favorite author of mine. I feel like I can also fit my love of history in general, as well as my interest in keeping up to date on scientific advancements and breakthroughs into this category.
Third year project at Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences. We formed mock companies and applied AGILE practices to create a game project. I served as Product Owner, Technical Artist and Visual Effects Artist.
